华州孔院邀请中国著名画家秦百兰女士来华大举办画展

华州孔院将于2月22日至26日邀请中国著名工笔画画家秦百兰女士来华大举办中国传统画展。

秦百兰女士

Ms. Bailan Qin is a well-known disabled painter and member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference as well as of the Chinese Artists Association. She was a deputy to the National People's Congress and a representative of the United Nations' World Conference on Women. In 2005, she was awarded the title of one of “China’s Ten Major Art Masters”.

Ms. Bailan Qin has loved art since childhood. At the age of 18, she fell ill, which resulted in the paralysis of her legs. Over the past forty years, she has worked diligently, creating thousands of paintings of women and children from Chinese history. She has done extensive studies of the history of Chinese historical and mythical characters. The figures she paints are truly beautiful and refined; each painting is unique and exquisite, and expresses qualities that are simple, yet lifelike. She expertly contrasts vivid colors, bringing both life and dimension to the images. Her work has been received with great enthusiasm all over the country.

Between 1997 and 2014 she held exhibitions in more than 50 countries, including the United States, France, Germany, Italy, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland, South Korea, Japan, Austria, Russia, Brazil, Peru, Egypt, Turkey, Jordan, Morocco, and so on. Each venue brought her ever more acclaim. Since then, her art has been exhibited in other countries around the world in many languages, including Chinese, English, Portuguese, Spanish, Russian, French, German, Arabic, Persian, and so on.

Her achievements and good spirits are highly regarded by the international community. Ms. Bailan Qin has been honored with the title of emissary of beauty and friendship. She has been received by Chinese leaders such as Chairman Hu Jintao as well as by a number of national leaders abroad.

1. The Moon Fairy Chang’e Goes Out Of The Moon Palace

The lonely Chang’e in the Moon Palace missed the human world. She walked out of the moon and peered at the earth. The moral is that human beings think life in heaven is better, but the fairies in heaven love the earth. All are pursuing things they can’t have.

2. The Lotus Fairy

Even though the lotus grows from the mud, it is still clear and beautiful. This painting describes the holy and pure appearance of the lotus fairy as she stands among the lotus leaves and appreciates the beautiful lotus in the pond.

3. Strange Stories From A Chinese Studio, Portrait Of Ten Women

These women from the famous Chinese classic, Strange Stories from a Chinese Studio, were beautiful and warm hearted. They each had a unique experience with love. There are further explanations on the painting itself. Strange Stories from a Chinese Studio is a collection of ghost stories in ancient China.

4. Li Bai Asking For Knowledge

Li Bai was a very famous poet in the Tang Dynasty who was very naughty when he was little. One day he saw an old woman grinding an iron pestle to a needle, which made him realize why you “pay, then you gain.” He then studied harder and showed extraordinary talent. This painting shows his lovely image when he was asking for knowledge.
The proverb “Where there is a will, there is a way” refers to the meaning of the painting.

5. The Ancient Heroine, Hua Mulan

Hua Mulan was a folk woman in the South and North Dynasties. When she was fifteen-years-old she was very good at weaving and had refined her martial art skills. When Turkic invaded, she disguised herself as a man and replaced her elderly father to join the army for 12 years. She was awarded many military honours.
After the war she refused promotion and the offer of a higher salary; instead she returned to her home village. Only when her companions in battle visited her at home did they discover she was a woman. The "Mulan speech" is well-known.

6. The Ancient Heroine, Mu Guiying

Mu Guiying was a heroine of ancient China. She was a female marshal in Northern Song Dynasty and married into the famous Great Yang Family. She had superb martial art skills and was very beautiful and talented.
Her martial art skills were even better than her husband Yang Zongbao. She contributed a lot to the defence of the country. When she was 50-years-old, she still commanded many great battles. Her good name spread far and wide.

7. The Ancient Heroine, Fan Lihua

Fan Lihua was an ancient Chinese heroine and wife of the Tang Dynasty general Xue Dingshan. She was very beautiful and talented. She also excelled in military skills. She completely broke the character and spirit of the enemy‘s troops and was known far and wide for her military prowess.

8. The Ancient Heroine, Liang Hongyu

Liang Hongyu was an ancient Chinese heroine. She was a well-known general in the South Song Dynasty. She was originally born in the city of Chizhou and was the daughter of a very well known military family. She married a general called Han Shizhong.
She was very wise and resourceful and won a great battle against the country of Jin with a far weaker military. Her whole country sang victory songs about her.

9. Twelve Hairpins In Jinling

The hairpins refer to women. The twelve beautiful women in Jinling are the main characters in Hong Lou Meng (“A Dream of Red Mansions”). They are all very smart and beautiful, but have different backgrounds and different personalities. However, in a very sexist society there was no exception. All of them suffered the same tragic fate.

10. Lin Daiyu Burying Flowers

Lin Daiyu is one of the main characters in Hong Lou Meng ("A Dream of Red Mansions "). She was intelligent, beautiful, versatile and also very sentimental. She was orphaned at an early age. She had a sorrowful love story. Unfortunately she became very weak and sickly, which caused her to contract tuberculosis. In this painting she takes pity on the falling flowers and through the falling flowers she expressed her dejected mood.

11. Bamboo Horse And Child Prodigy

During the Shenzong period of the Ming Dynasty, Premier Zhang Junzheng was very poor when he was young. He rode a bamboo stick to school instead of a horse. This painting shows the lovely image of this boy who studied very hard and diligently.
